Bismuth, element # 83, is a metal that is 8 times rarer than silver and nearly half as rare as gold. Bismuth naturally forms crystal shapes when heated and cooled. Surface oxidation (rust) is what gives it various colors. The Bismuth Smith, like a Gold Smith or Black Smith, happens to be the only company in the world who makes them into sculptures.
HOW TO MEASURE YOUR SPHERE: Sandwich it on a level countertop or bookshelf, using the wall or fridge and another square or rectangular item like a box of tissues. Measure the distance between the two with a ruler, or compare to something you know the length of.
